Foucault's Pendulum!

Everyone has heard of this famous book "Foucault's Pendulum" by Umberto Eco!

But to see this actually happening in a chess game, well, this is an entirely different story!

A very good friend of mine and a no less formidable opponent,
a very strong and county player
with a Laskerian approach of chess
Loukas Papadimitriou

showed that he has enriched his outstanding chess tactics
with the most famous works of the world literature!

In a quite recent tournament
he showed his imaginative
and humorous skills!

In the following position he was white
and he had the move

It's not only how White wins, but how he does so in "Umberto Eco" style?

The first move is Qe1
a deep mysterious move
dropping the exchange

Black takes the rook, Bc1 and white retakes Bc1

and black plays Nhf6 with the idea Re8

but then comes the mighty bishop Bh6

Black fearlessly responds Rfe8

and the Alfred Hitchcock scene concludes with the amazing
Qa1!!

and if Re7

then Nd7 and Qf6 and mate wins

When asked after being shown this game
Umberto Eco had to say:

" I must congratulate Loukas for  (re-)discovering this possibility,

it's fairly obvious to me by now
that he has done a deep research of the existing literature
and he has been highly accustomed with my work!! "

Another good friend of ours
and another very strong player indeed
"the artist" Achileas Zografos admitted:
This is such a strong move that only players above 2600 can find!

I don't have anything to add than well done!
Bravo Louk!!
